Canoe Forest Products’ vision is to operate the safest plywood/veneer plant in the industry generating the highest quality plywood and veneer.
Canoe continues to aim to be synonymous with “Canada’s Finest Plywood and Veneer”
The Canoe plywood facility is situated 5 kilometers east of the city of Salmon Arm, in the heart of some of BC’s highest quality timber and is supported by log harvesting and forestry operations within the Okanagan Timber Supply Area, surrounding Shuswap Lake. With a capacity of approximately 145 million square feet of plywood annually, the company is well recognized for its high-quality products and precision manufacturing.
Nearly 30 years ago, employees at the mill were asked to give input on a motto that best described the business. “Quality Proud” was the winning submission. That motto fits more than ever since CFP joined the Gorman Group of companies on Nov 1, 2012. Gorman Bros. Lumber has always prided itself on being unique in the industry and family-value driven.
Canoe Forest Products is strongly committed to protecting the environment, and to that end has achieved the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®).

Sustainable Forestry Initiative
What is the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®) Program?
SFI is an independent third-party forest certification program that works with environmental, social, and industry partners to promote sustainable forest management in the United States and Canada and responsible fibre sourcing globally.
The SFI forest standard is based on principles and measures that promote sustainable forest management and consider all forest values. At the start of 2010, more than 180 million acres / 73 million hectares were certified, making it the largest single forest standard in the world.
To demonstrate compliance with SFI or other standards, companies hire independent auditors, who verify that the companies’ forest practices and enviromental management meet the requirements of the certification system. The audit verification is an ongoing process that ensures continuing compliance with the sustainable forest management standards. For more information about the SFI standard go to www.sfiprogram.org
