About
Conifex is a next generation Canadian forest products company operating in one of the richest fibre baskets in North America, northern British Columbia. We produce high-quality lumber products and renewable energy from our sawmill and bioenergy plant in Mackenzie, B.C.
Our team is made up of specialized experts with a lifetime of experience in forest products who deliver world-class structural grade SPF dimension lumber as well as clean, renewable energy from our sawmill residuals.
We take our commitment to environmental sustainability seriously. We re-use residuals from what we manufacture to produce clean renewable energy and sell a variety of sustainable wood products to local customers. And we employ sustainable logging practices, focused on biological diversity, recreational and ecosystem benefits in the forests we manage, all under internationally recognized certification standards.
We are proud to invest in a healthy and safe work culture, creating sustainable economic opportunities for the people of northern British Columbia.
Environmental mission and strategy (ESG)
Forests provide a bounty of economic, environmental and social benefits. To us, sustainable forest management means ensuring these benefits are shared by our communities, employees and customers today and in the future.
We are committed to providing a safe workplace, and to developing and maintaining respectful relationships with all our stakeholders, including our employees, investors, customers, communities, and Indigenous people of the traditional territories on which we operate.
Forest management practices grounded in sustainability and shared benefit are at the core of everything we do. But we also recognize as a guiding principle our responsibility to contribute to managing for the overall ecosystem health and biodiversity of British Columbia’s forests.
We believe our forests contribute immensely to sustainably meeting multiple human needs, and that they can continue to do so. In order to maintain the resiliency of this treasured resource, we need to protect and enhance the diverse benefits forests provide, including clean air, water, soil and critical habitat biodiversity.
