About
For more than a century, we’ve been growing trees and making forest products that improve lives in fundamental ways. We manage our millions of acres of forests on a continuous and fully sustainable cycle. We are responsible stewards of our land for multiple uses, including recreation, conservation, economic development and different forms of renewable energy. And the wood products we make are used to build homes where families are sheltered and raised.
Environmental mission and strategy (ESG)
Sustainability has been a guiding principle at Weyerhaeuser for well over 100 years. Our company began replanting forests long before it was common practice or required, and environmental stewardship and sustainable forest management have been foundational to our business for generations. Put simply, we’re driven by the belief that forests are the most sustainable and versatile resource on earth, and we have a tremendous responsibility to manage them well — today and long into the future.
We're proud of the work we do to ensure our forests last forever, yet we know sustainability is about more than just what we do in the woods. It's a deeply rooted value of our company and culture that touches every aspect of our business. For us, sustainability is about constantly innovating and evolving — and taking proactive steps every day to ensure our company will thrive and add meaningful value to the world around us for generations to come.
We have many different stakeholders with a vested interest in how well we do this work. Our shareholders invest in our company based on the belief that we will run our operations responsibly and effectively over the long term. Our customers depend on having a reliable partner across business cycles, and a sustainable supply chain for their own business. Our current and future employees want to work in a safe, ethical and inclusive environment, and to feel confident and proud of our practices and the impact we have on the world. Members of the communities where we operate want to know we are good neighbors who listen and do our part to help our communities be successful.
We have a long track record of great work in all these areas, but we can’t afford to rest on our past accomplishments. The bar for sustainability leadership is constantly rising, and we have an opportunity — an obligation — to have an even bigger positive impact on the world. I’m excited to see this next chapter of our sustainability strategy come to life as we implement our ambitious vision over the next decade.
