About
The fundamental values for our homes are environmental sustainability, energy performance and affordability. The concept on how to apply these values in our product came in two parts, Logan Ashley had explored alternative options instead of conventional building methods, like rammed earth building and Jocoah Sorensen had developed a business plan to use prefabricated building methods that utilize passive house standards and Earthship Biotechture as the way to fulfill these values. Pre-fabrication, Passive House Standards and Earthship Principals became the process that we follow today in our operations. A prefabricated building method eliminates many uncertainties when compared to onsite building operation. By using prefabricated methods the building process is streamlined, provides accurate cost analysis and improves quality management. The Adaptive Homes process allows for the product to be accessible to a broader audience.
The passion that drives Adaptive Homes forward comes from a lived experience as a tradesperson. When working on projects for other companies, Logan and Jocoah noticed a mentality in the industry, that the finished visual appearance was prioritized over the efficiency of the building. In our experience, a home may undergo many renovations to revive the visual appearance. However, to reach budget constraints some companies may forfeit attention on high performance details. We didn’t believe you needed to sacrifice one for the other and incorporated these details into our normal manufacturing process. We wanted to ensure that no matter the constraints an individual might have, a high performance home is a competitive option.
Looking for a builder?
Our factory is located in the heart of Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. We manufacture prefabricated buildings, delivered and installed on foundation anywhere in the BC. All of our homes maintain Passive House principles as building guidelines as well as meticulous quality management control measures to obtain their CSA certification. In addition 2-5-10 Home Warranty is available for every project.
OUR CONCEPT
Adaptive homes provides exceptional energy efficient home ownership options for those seeking attainable high performance homes. Our pre fabricated homes are sequentially inspected and certified by the CSA before leaving our facility.
Each home is carefully engineered for structural integrity, thermal performance and air tightness. Adaptive Homes will consume up to 90% less energy than a conventional home.
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond energy saving. Locally secured materials, salvaged and reclaimed materials, as well as renewable resources are all including in our building practice.
Environmental mission and strategy (ESG)
Continual integration of new building science and technology ensures that the buildings are built relative to our climate and ensure longevity in the structure. Dedication to sustainability and energy efficiency empowers us to drastically reduce our carbon footprint as well as reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 90%.
Here are a few examples:
- High performance building membranes that allow controlled vapour and moisture mitigation.
- Airtight construction in conjunction with ultra efficient Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) ensure fresh air without energy loss (hot or cold).
- Low embodied carbon building products, from insulation to finishing, all materials must be evaluated and carefully selected for least carbon footprint.
The principal of passive solar design is to use the natural energy of the sun to help heat and cool the building. By orienting window facades, strategically placing operational windows and thermal mass we can heat and cool a building passively with no need for mechanical or electrical appliances or a reduced demand.
