Construction of Shipping Container Homes
Step III: Build It: Shipping Container Modification, Erection, and Construction Administration
-
Phase 6 - Fabrication of the shipping containers - Once the permit has been approved for the build and the full project financing has been secured, the project moves to fabrication. This is the point where the largest project payment will come into play. It is also the start of site improvements, utilities and foundations by the general contractor. During this phase, we create and provide the container cut sheets (shop drawings) and source the containers. We will then modify the shipping containers to be ready for your house build.
-
Phase 7 - Construction Administration - Once the shipping containers have been modified we prepare them for transportation to your site. We will deliver and erect the containers using our proprietary stacking flanges and project experience. We also provide consulting to all trades, support permit inspections and on-site design-build issues through issuance of Certificate of Occupancy. Each of our clients has different preferences on how involved we are in the subsequent steps but typically our scope is to the roughs (i.e. walls, doors and windows are installed) and then their general contractor will finish the rest. Our final payment is due once you and TSI do a walk through and punch list. This is generally done prior to the general contractor finishing their work. Typically we can build shipping container homes in hours or a few days however the entire phase can take 1-6 months depending on other factors such as permit inspections and other trades.

Phase 8 - Post Construction - TSI is happy to continue serving as a resource to you and will help with warranty inspections and other post construction needs for your shipping container homes.
