Whistler Passive House
The goal of this project is to address Whistler’s housing shortage as well as be one of BC’s most energy-efficient buildings. This 100% rental high-performance 38-unit pet friendly apartment building will be located at the Highway 99 entrance to White Gold and will contain 12 different unit types to accommodate as many of the different households found in Whistler. All the units will be rented to people who qualify for Whistler Housing Authority (WHA) rental units.
The building was designed keeping so many things in mind, one being security as the building will never be sold so tenants won’t need to leave or relocate. Health was also first and foremost when designing this building. One of the main features is the fresh air system that delivers 100% fresh air to units, then recovers the heat energy from that air before venting it outside of the building. No air is be mixed from any of the units or common spaces giving you fresh clean air delivered to your living rooms and bedrooms. The triple weather-sealed, triple pane windows keep the outside noise outside and keep you warm and comfortable inside.
The property is close to public transport and offers underground parking or a private garage for car and bike parking and storage, as well as a bike and ski tuning workshop area. A community garden for growing plants and flowers amongst the landscaped grounds for residents to enjoy the outdoors.
7104 Nesters Way is built to the highest quality standards and will far exceed the BC Building Code Step 5 level which is the goal of the 2032 code and the Passive House Standard. Innovation Design has partnered with BCIT to develop simple construction methods to vastly improve building performance while not raising costs. This will be the 7th building of its kind done to this level of performance.
