Wilson House is one for the books - we wanted to reach the passive house standards with the ability to be off grid.
The two main structure components are CLT and rammed earth. Windows and doors are MSoraw Windows wood aluminum clad, triple pane passive house.
For the mechanical system of Wilson house we used a Zehnder comfoair Q450 ERV paired with an earth tube for the ventilation of the house. The earth tube is a passive system that brings the fresh air into the home through a long underground pipe. When you pair this with a very efficient ERV you get a system that requires very minimal energy for continuous fresh air. The distribution system is individual continuous flexible 3' pipes throughout the house that run from the manifold direct to the Zehnder Unit.
