Fine Woodworking Piece on Building a Pedestal Table
This is an article I wrote, along with a piece I built, for Fine Woodworking Magazine in 2005.
I had everything set up for their arrival, and in three days we were able to finish off final pieces, glue some assemblies together, and assemble the entire table, while taking photos for the article. The staining and finishing were done later.
They said I was in the running for the cover of the magazine, but I lost out to a bunch of glue bottles that they felt would sell more issues.
The wood used is black walnut, with an aniline stain (water-based) and a water-based lacquer by Becker.
