How to fix condensation on ceilings?
Hi! We moved into a house last winter (it is a 50 year old home) and we notice condensation on the ceilings. The house also had plywood soffits with minimal ventilation. After investigating, we discovered that the attic was completely wet and moisture was getting trapped which lead to mould growth on the plywood at the underside of the roof. We spent $20,000 in mould abatement, new aluminum soffits, extra shutes for ventilation, and all new insulation across the entire home. Less than a year later, we have just had our first snow fall of the season and I noticed condensation again. Please help me figure out what is causing this and how to fix it! Thank you
Condensation in the home is bad news for sure, but for the moment you have two subjects here. One is the condensation issues, the second is the roof ventilation and moisture issues – and they may or may not be linked. So in order to reply to your questions we’ll need more information. When you say “I noticed condensation again” – where is this? Which room(s) and where in the room(s)? Do you have a condensation problem on windows in the home? It’s almost certainly solvable…
