What is the best choice for me, HRV or ERV?
I have a newly constructed 2000 sq ft home with Natural gas In floor Radiant heat. With the most updated energy codes. We are just looking for the best air exchange system. Thanks, John
How to choose between an HRV and ERV (Heat Recovery Ventilator and Energy Recovery Ventilator for those not familiar) comes down mostly to climate, and a wee bit lifestyle, since an ERV extracts moisture from exhaust air. So it's a lot about the humidity levels of your climate, and therefore in your home. As for 'lifestyle' I mean, if you live a 'humid' life, with lots of people in the home, lots of showers, lots of coffee, tea, cooking, etc, and whether or not you are vigilant about using your exhaust fans such as stove hoods and bathroom fan.
