How well does the Legalett air heated floor work when pouring concrete?
On the 4" air pipe system I was wondering if you have to vibrate the concrete mix to ensure no air pockets? What is the thickness of the pipe- sch40 or more like sdr26? How far is top of pipe from top of concrete?
Yes, with the Legalett raft slab air-heated floor you need to vibrate the concrete with a pencil vibrator. The company provides all the instruction for concrete strength and how to pour. Personall I don't know the thickness of the pipe, but that is not left to you to purchase, all components are provided. Did you see the install video? We just did a legalett air-heated floor for our recent demo house and did a time-lapse install video here -
Solar Radiant Heated Floor Kit - Slab on Grade for LEED, Passive, ZNE
Legalett monitors the process of installion for their raft slab kits, which includes a pre-pour inspection for warranty, they also send a construction heater to cure and dry the floor before the final heater unit is installed, they also send you a moisture test to perform to ensure it is dry before installing the permanent heater. Their attention to detail and the support is really what makes this such an exceptional product in our eyes, and is why they have about a million and half square feet installed across North America including the far north, and there has not been a single structural failure.
