Should we renovate or get a Prefab Kit house?
Hello, My husband and I are considering our options for our home and lot in Peterborough, ON Canada. We have been thinking of completely renovating our current home but then came across the option of the Pre Fab Kit. Could we speak with someone directly to find out more information and if this would be feasible for us financially? We would have to completely tear down the existing home, which is not exactly eco-friendly what with the amount of waste that would produce, but very much want a more sustainable home.
If someone could get back to me with more information about cost that would be much appreciated.
Thank you - please let me know if you would like my email address / phone number to discuss.
Take care
Deciding when to tear down a house and when to renovate and repair is always a tough decision, we actually have a page about that whole process that you may want to look over –
Renovate or Tear Down and Rebuild? How to Choose Which is Best
If you decide to tear it down, prefab kit houses are a great idea, you can see our models here if you haven’t already –

Unfortunately the demand for our kit houses far exceeded the capabilities of our manufacturing partners, and Covid delays certainly didn’t help! So we can’t get homes shipped in the near future but we are looking at other suppliers to ramp up our production. What I would recommend is to join the Ecohome Network as a member, its free and we don’t spam or share addresses. What we will do, is send our members a notice when we have more kit houses ready to ship.
