Is moisture a problem in an unvented cathedral ceiling under a vented attic?
curious if we should be concerned about moisture at the peak of a vaulted ceiling under a vented attic space in the same way we are concerned about moisture at the peak of an unvented attic space?
There is nothing that jumps out at me as a problem with a vaulted ceiling over a vented attic, what is your reason for concern? As long as your attic is vented properly, the two really aren’t related. Do you have high humidity in the home, or is there humidity forming or any signs of moisture damage at the peak of the ceiling?
Ceiling fans would alleviate it if so, and often times- now at least and with well-thought out home designs, you will often see ventilation fan intakes at the peak of vaulted ceilings as that is where the heat mostly collects, and also how you will get the most benefit from a heat exchanger and balance temperatures in the house. But let us know why you are asking and we can likely be of more help.
