Which vinyl flooring is best for a concrete surface to withstand water damage?
I would like to use vinyl flooring in my new Net Zero house in all areas except wash rooms. Any particular brand as lots of choices are out there which one to select? OR Which one to avoid?
We would not know which is the best vinyl flooring since we don't like any of it, so instead we would first point you to some alternatives, namely Marmoleum as a sustainable and healhty alternative to vinyl flooring.
Here would be our reasons for why not to install vinyl in a home, and here is our page on how to find the best flooring for a healthy home if the marmoleum isn't doing it for you. We also laid cork flooring on a concrete floor and we are quite happy with it, its great looking, non-toxic and at about 3/16s it offers a softer and more comfortable surface than concrete, it does not impact the delivery of heat from the radiant floor, and in summer months makes the unheated floor a little more comfortable.
Those are a few options from a gang that isn't fond of vinyl, so I guess the short answer on which ones we would avoid would be - all of them :)
When it comes to choosing vinyl flooring for a concrete surface that will be exposed to water, you'll want to look for options that are specifically designed for high-moisture environments. Two of the most popular vinyl flooring options for concrete surfaces that are prone to water damage are Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and Vinyl Plank Flooring.
LVT is a type of vinyl flooring that is known for its durability, versatility, and waterproof properties. It is composed of multiple layers that work together to create a surface that is highly resistant to water and moisture. LVT is also easy to clean and maintain, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic areas and spaces that are prone to spills and stains
