What system do I use to circulate air or exchange fresh air in a home?
Hello. We have radiant in floor heat in our basement which heats our whole house. We do not have any type of circulation or venting system. I was wondering what to use to do this. Our house main floor in 2058 sq ft. Basement Is the same size.
it is now winter time and I would like to get things circulating. But lost as what to do.
I seen another post say it depends on building inspector. Well we passed our inspection and have moved in already.
most cost effective way?
thank you. Any discussion is welcome.
To remove stale air and inject fresh air into your home but reducing heat loss in the process requires a heat recovery ventilation system. That can be either just heat recovery (HRV) or energy recovery (ERV) which also manages moisture. Here is a page that may help -
Choosing between an HRV and ERV, which is best?
if doing a conventional ducted system through your home is too big a cost or hassle (it would be quite disruptive) there are ductless options, see here -
Ductless heat recovery ventilation systems may be an option worth considering, they work in pairs - one blows out while the other blows in, and they alternate about every minute which is how the heat recovery takes place. Air blows out through a ceramic core that absorbs heat, and when it reverses, that warmed core warms incoming air, and the cycle continues.
