Main family residence with several commercial activities that needed a electricity free wastewater treatment system. Inside:
- 3 bedrooms
- 1 short stay lodging (B&B) that can hold up to 4 people
- 1 food processing workshop
Outside, a permaculture project that will eventually include:
- 8 laying hens
- 4 goats
- 1 greenhouse with vegetables
- about 1 acre of organic gardens
As the site required that the septic system for wastewater treatment have a lifting station, a low-pressure distribution system (LPDS) enabled equal distribution between and along the rows of pipes. This uniform distribution extends the system's life span.
The LPDS also enables the use of only 35 cm of filter sand rather than 60 cm. This reduces the cost of the system, but also reduces the environmental footprint as less sand also means fewer GHG emissions from less transport.
