Similar to concrete, although different in appearance
The rammed earth building technique uses available aggregate from your local quarry. Re-bar and a minimal amount of Portland cement is used to stabilise the walls and meet Canadian engineering requirements.
Taking suitable proportions of sand and gravel combined with Portland cement and a small amount of water; we pour this mixture layer by layer into the constructed form work (reinforced plywood frame). By adding iron oxides we can change the colouring of the wall which gives the walls their desired, signature look.
The walls can range between 18″ to 24″ thick. This includes 6″ of insulating materials embedded within .
Using our developed delivery and forming methods, we are able to do the job more efficiently than other rammed earth builders.
